Americans Weight In

Bodyweight Statistics Climbing

The number of overweight Americans has been steadily climbing since 1960.  Today, almost two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese, according to the American Obesity Association.  They report that 64.5 percent of adult Americans are carrying around the burden of extra pounds.  That is estimated to be 127 million people in this country who need to do better at managing their lifestyle for better health.

Those extra pounds take a heavy toll on a person's quality of life.  The extra weight makes even basic activities more difficult.  Just walking around with that extra weight adds to the stress endured by the knee, ankle, and hip joints.  That daily overstressing of joints (or worse- no activity at all) adds up to chronic disease.  Not just painful chronic diseases like arthritis, but potentially fatal chronic and often avoidable problems like heart disease.

Where's the good news?  It is never too late!  Talk to your doctor now.  Be good to your body.  Be gentle but persistent.  Pay attention to your mental and emotional health.  Take little steps toward a better future.

NEW RELAXATION CDS COMING SOON

Our goal was to make great music that was relaxing without sounding like far out New Age or spacy techno music.  We kept our format of 5 minute songs with a world beat flavor, and slowed the beats per minute down to 90-110. 
We sent out pre-release copies of the new Randomosity FITNESS Music relaxation CDs and asked our loyal customers for their opinion.  The results are in.

     "I found it more stimulating than relaxing."

     "I'm going to try some of these songs next time I teach cardio to liven up our regular routines with some funky dancing!"

Relaxation 

It's a healthy part of a well balanced lifestyle.  How can we find the time in our busy schedules to dedicate toward our own well being? 

How much time do you spend watching the news (maybe adding stress)?  If it's twice a day, try it just once a day and spend the extra time on a little daily R&R for yourself.

How much time do you spend on household chores?   Are you thinking about work problems when you're at home washing the dinner dishes?  Why?  Try playing some pleasant music during your household work.  Think about the music and the task at hand and let go of the other stress for a while.  Let your brain put those thoughts on the back burner.  It will still be there later, but who knows?  When you get back to it the time and renewed perspective might really help.
